One to Watch: Rooney Mara

This dark haired beauty first appeared on the big screen back in 2010 with her part in The Social Network, playing Mark Zucherberg’s college girlfriend. However, in her new movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, she has taken centre stage and, as a result, her red carpet appearances have been aplenty.  What is intriguing about this actress, is the subtle disparities between herself and her character.

Though her willowy, mysterious presence transcends both the screen and reality, that cut-throat instinct and arrogant manner that personifies Lisbeth Salander - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - is not so obvious in Mara’s public appearances. Instead, she seems delicate, fragile and somewhat ethereal. This is reflected in the outfits she selects. First choosing a statement piece, such as a dress or jumpsuit, she then accentuates its flare by grouping it with minimal accessorises, a simple blunt hair cut and clean make up. Rooney’s take on Hollywood and fashion is refreshing: she is not 'trying to hard' and looks comfortable in the muted, minimalistic garments she selects. With all this going for her she definitely one to look out for when it comes to fashion in 2012.
